Blinken is optimistic that the ceasefire in Gaza will be implemented on Sunday

"It's not surprising that in a process, in a negotiation that has been so difficult, you can have outstanding issues," the US Secretary of State said

Newsroom January 16 10:30

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken appeared optimistic today that the ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas will go into effect on Sunday as planned, despite last-minute problems.

In his last press conference as head of U.S. diplomacy, Blinken said he had talked this morning with U.S. negotiator Brett McGurk and Qatari officials to resolve the problem.
