Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in Brussels to participate in the European Council session today and tomorrow, where critical issues, including Ukraine, migration, and the Middle East, will dominate discussions.

On his arrival, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of bolstering Europe’s collective defense, stating, “Europe must allocate more resources to common European defense.”

Mitsotakis will join an informal meeting on migration with leaders from Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and other EU member states, alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The Council will also focus on continued support for Ukraine, ensuring it remains resilient in potential peace negotiations. Regarding Syria, the Prime Minister will advocate for a united, sovereign future for the country while stressing the EU’s role in addressing security risks and migration challenges in the Middle East.

Additionally, Mitsotakis will brief EU partners on his recent visit to Lebanon, urging support for Lebanese institutions and the November 27 ceasefire’s implementation.
