Stavros Niarchos: From billionaire playboy to model family man

Just before entering the 40-year-old club, the grandson of the iconic Greek tycoon has lived it all

Newsroom December 14 05:00

A life between the US and Europe, studies at top private schools and universities, vacations on a private island, wild parties and extravagant galas, hanging out with Hollywood stars and women “slaughtering” for his sake, until he found his “port” in the eyes of Dasha Zhukova, they had a fairy-tale wedding and, a few days ago, welcomed their third child.

“The highest form of wealth is the ability to wake up every morning and say: ‘I can do anything I want’,” business editor and best-selling author Morgan Housel has declared, and the case of Stavros Niarchos, who turns 40 next April, probably confirms it.

His name will speak for itself: he is the grandson of Greek shipping magnates Stavros Niarchos and Eugenia Livanos. He is the first-born son of shipowner and businessman Philip Niarchos, a national benefactor and collector of important works of art – Van Gogh, Picasso, and Basquiat among many others – who was named the 3rd richest Greek for 2024 through Forbes’ list, with a fortune of $2.8 billion. His mother is Victoria-Christina Guinness, a member of the family behind the famous black beer from Dublin, and he has three other younger siblings, Eugenia, Theo (Theodorakis), and Electra Niarchos.
