Marinakis on US elections: the government will work with whoever is elected

Our relations are of strategic importance, the government spokesman stressed

Newsroom November 6 10:35

Donald Trump’s apparent victory over Kamala Harris was commented on by government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis. Greece’s relations with the United States are of strategic importance, the government spokesman said in a morning television interview. He noted that the country maintains ties with both parties, while on Greek-Turkish relations he said that our relations are not determined by other countries. “We had said that regardless of the outcome, our relations with the United States will not be affected. It is of strategic importance. Both the prime minister and the government will cooperate,” he said.

As the government spokesperson noted:

“I have answered and the Prime Minister has also said that Greece does not determine, does not determine its relations with other countries, with a third country. Through the path of dialogue, we have achieved important things. At the same time, we have recorded successes on the defense and diplomatic levels. Nor can one result mean anything because there were relations in the past. The Prime Minister has relations with both parties. This calls for a consistent diplomatic policy. Kyriakos Mitsotakis was applauded by both parties in Congress. He has managed to strengthen Greece and our country’s positions have become identical to those of the West.”
