Watch live footage from the First Cemetery of Athens as we bid a final farewell to Mimis Plessas:

Friends and family who loved his music have the opportunity to say their “final goodbyes” to the legendary creator who has left an indelible mark on the music scene.

“She wants us to remember him through his work and life. We will remember him forever. He didn’t like all this, which is why we didn’t want extravagance. We were offered several days of public mourning, but we declined. He told me, ‘I don’t want my funeral to be a show,’” his wife stated.

Spyridonas Bibilas also spoke about the multifaceted artist Mimis Plessas, stating, “He will remain a beacon of culture for all Greeks. His songs will be sung by future generations. Beyond that, he was also a great man, kind-hearted. He excelled in other areas as well; I have some of his paintings. In his art, he included elements of chemistry, which are very interesting. He lived a fulfilling life. Wherever he was, he wanted the people to sing.”
