Areti Aravela Spyridou finished 10th in the 100m Backstroke S2 and will return to the pool on Saturday

Newsroom August 29 07:00

Grigoris Polychronidis made a strong start in the BC3 boccia category at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The “gold” Paralympian from London, with ramp operator Katerina Patroni, won 5-2 against French competitor Gilles Menard (with ramp operator Christophe Menard) in his first match of the 4th qualifying group.

The 43-year-old athlete has taken the first step toward securing one of the top two spots in the group standings, which will earn him a place in the quarterfinals.

Winning Start for Morphie Metzou in BC4 Boccia

Morphie Metzou also had a successful start in the BC4 boccia category’s first qualifying group. The Greek athlete defeated Ana Maria Arabasich from Croatia 5-4 in her opening match of the top event, taking the first step toward securing one of the top two spots in the group standings for a chance to advance to the quarterfinals.

Metzou will compete again today, facing Spanish player Sara Aguero Mayo in the evening (August 29, 20:20).
