Cristiano Ronaldo: UEFA to Honor Him for Champions League Record

UEFA has announced that it will award Cristiano Ronaldo as the all-time top scorer in the Champions League during the draw for this season’s group stage, which will take place on Thursday (August 29) in Monaco

Newsroom August 27 06:00

The Portuguese forward, who now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, has scored 140 goals in 183 matches of the prestigious club competition with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. He has eleven more goals than Lionel Messi and 46 more than Robert Lewandowski, who is the top scorer among current Champions League players.

Ronaldo has won the trophy five times (four with Real Madrid and once with Manchester United), and he holds records for the most goals in a single season (17, during the 2013-14 season) and for the most consecutive matches scoring (11, from June 2017 to April 2018).

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin stated, “His constant excellence at the highest level reflects his relentless pursuit of both collective and individual titles. For over two decades, he has continued to evolve and improve his game.”
