The fighter against the dictatorship Argyris Maltsidis passed away

The funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday 23/8, at 12 noon

Agiris (Akis) Maltsidis, the anti-dictatorship fighter Argiris (Akis) Maltsidis, passed away today at the age of 92.

He was born in 1932 in Thessaloniki and studied Civil Engineering at the AUTH.

He studied at the University of Thessaloniki in Athens, Greece.
For his anti-dictatorial activity, through the ranks of the Democratic Defence in Thessaloniki, he was sentenced in November 1968 to 5.5 years imprisonment by the Extraordinary Military Court of Thessaloniki, along with Stelios Nestoras, Pavlos Zannas, George Shipitano, Sotiris Dedes and Kostas Pyrzas.

During his transfer to the Korydallos prison, he carried a complaint sewn on his belt to the International Red Cross of the political prisoners in the Gedi Koule about the inhuman conditions of their confinement, which caused an international outcry against the Junta.

His funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday 23/8, at 12 noon at the Cemetery of the Resurrection of the Lord.

The Association of Imprisoned and Exiled Resistance Workers (S.F.E.A. ) 1967-1974 has expressed its condolences to his relatives.
