Ms. Sakellaropoulou noted that this is a historic visit, as the previous visit of an Indian Prime Minister was in 1983. On his part, Narendra Modi wanted to express his sympathy for the fires raging in the country. He also expressed his condolences to the victims of the fires.

The President also referred to India’s successful operation in space, saying it is an unexplored area of the moon. Moreover, speaking about the ongoing fires in the country Sakellaropoulou stressed the urgent need for action against the climate crisis with the participation of the entire world.

Finally, Sakellaropoulou stressed the strong ties between the two countries that have been linked since ancient times and added that cooperation between the two countries to deepen relations in areas of mutual interest will be for the common good.
