PM Mitsotakis main election campaign speech in Thessaloniki (video)

Former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis is also present at the event

Newsroom May 18 07:54

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is speaking at the central pre-election event of New Democracy in Thessaloniki.

The former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis is also “present” at the event. The event takes place at Alexandrion Melathros (Palace de Sport).

“Tonight’s gathering is the best prologue for Sunday,” said the Prime Minister and expressed his certainty that on Sunday the Greek people will give New Democracy a second chance.

“I’m in the city I love so much. Victory starts in Thessaloniki. I called you townsmen because I don’t forget that I am also a descendant of Macedonian fighters because my grandfather fought here. The blue wave starts from Thermaikos and meets the one that spread from Chania and throughout our homeland. Today’s gathering is the best prelude to Sunday. Half of Greece is celebrating, but the Republic will be celebrating as well. The whole country will celebrate, paving the way for a self-reliant Greece and a self-reliant ND,” said the prime minister in his foreword.

The event is taking place at Alexandrion Melathros (Palace de Sport). Mr. Mitsotakis also referred to the crisis created by Turkey in 2020, underlining the determination of the ND party to extend the border fence on the Evros area to the entire length of the border, while he referred to the strengthening of the Greek armed forces with the Rafale aircraft and the strategic agreements he made Greece with the USA and France.

Points of the speech:

All of Thessaloniki will be blue in the elections.

The metro will also be extended to western Thessaloniki as I have promised.

The metro is becoming a reality, we are leaving the tarpaulins of SYRIZA.

We raised the tax-free threshold.

Our universities are freed with the new framework law.
