Mitsotakis announced May 21 elections – “Citizens must know who they are voting for as Prime Minister”

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced during a the cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning that date of the upcoming elections is the 21st of May. Regarding the case of holding second elections, he said that they will be held at the beginning of July.

At the same time, the her pointed out once again the “non-governance trap” from simple proportionality, stressing that “the first election will show who will govern and the second how he will govern”.

“This is why the citizens must know who they are voting for as Prime Minister”, emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who in his speech proceeded with a mini-account of the government’s legislative work since 2019.

After the announcement of the date of the elections by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the last bill will be the fundraising bill of the Minister of the Interior, Makis Voridis, which will be debated by Holy Tuesday at the latest. Parliament will then close for Easter and not reopen with estimates suggesting it will be dissolved until April 21-22.
