In neo-Ottoman rant Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu declares “Turkish century has begun, the Turkish spring has begun”

The Turkish Foreign Minister said "Allah-willing steps were being taken" to neutralise US and EU threats

Newsroom November 18 05:30

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu attacked the US and the EU stating that “the Turkish century has begun” during a joint press conference on Thursday with the Mexican Foreign Minister.

Cavusoglu targeted the European Union for its support of Greece and Cyprus sending a message to the US: “You have upset the balance both in Turkey-Greece relations and in Cyprus. The scale has tipped. Keep a balance and when you talk about international law, look at the violations of Greece and the Greek Cypriots.”

Asked about the reaction of the EU and the US after the declaration of the pseudo-state as an observer in the Organisation of Turkish States, Cavusoglu declared that “we will not take any permission from the US “, because “the Turkish century has begun, the Turkish spring has begun”.

The Turkish minister then took aim at the EU saying: “By what right does the European Union intervene in the organisation of the Turkish states? We have seen the US, especially the European Union put pressure on the members of the Organisation of Turkish States.”

He added: “We even saw them make threats. They applied very serious pressure. They issued NOTAMs to each country. They sent letters. They pressed. But let them not forget the following: That there is a Turkish world that does not succumb to such threats, regardless of what the European Union or the USA are.”

He even warned that Europe and the US should abandon the threats: “These [threats] will no longer be accepted in the Turkish world. Your threats didn’t work either. The necessary steps have been taken. This is just the beginning. Step by step, Allah willing, more will happen.”
