Tsipras vs Mitsotakis: Fierce confrontation in the Parliament

An incident also took place between Pavlos Polakis and Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Newsroom May 8 11:09

The parliamentary debate on the vote of confidence following the motion of censure of the main opposition against Deputy Health Minister Pavlos Polakis, evolved in a head-on collision on all political issues between the Prime Minister and the President of New Democracy.

From the very beginning of the debate, the Prime Minister attempted to shift the debate in the field of economy and the relevant announcements which he made yesterday, a day before the start of the parliamentary process.

The ND leader replied about the economy, but he launched a direct attack on all the revelations about both the recently revealed scandals regarding Prime Minister’s holidays, the revelations about the tragedy at Mati and the scandalous behavior of Minister Polakis.

“Here you will apologize for everything”, he said while commenting on the Prime Minute holidays on millionaire Panagopoulos’ yacht.

However, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras proceded on personal assaults. Obviously irritated he begun his answer to Mr. Mitsotakis with a short but tense conversation with KINAL MP Andreas Loverdos, before saying to Mr. Mitsotakis, “you are too small to talk about morality to me”.

Continuing his personal assault on Mr. Mitsotakis, he accused him by saying his family had made a fortune through politics. The ND president was quick to respond that Tsipras’ family had made a fortune by doing business with the military junta during the 70s.

An incident also took place between Pavlos Polakis and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

At the end of the fierce confrontation of the Prime Minister with the leader of the main opposition party, Mr. Polakis came down from the ministerial seats, went in front of Mr. Mitsotakis’ seat and told him, “you won’t talk to us about fascism. The rest of tomorrow”. Mr. Mitsotakis answer was “get out of here, go outside”.
