Major opposition party New Democracy released a statement blasting the SYRIZA coalition government for attempting to muffle dissenting voices in the Greek media. “The government is trying to shut down media by adopting anti-constitutional tactics”, the announcement read commenting on the recent moves by the government majority. The statement goes on to stress that freedom of views and the exercise of criticism against the power were non-negotiable. “The SYRIZA-ANEL government has an allergy towards free and independent press and targets whatever they cannot manipulate”, the statement said.
