After a mild Christmas in Greece there are snowy days ahead

Weather takes a turn for the worst

Temperatures will drop during the last two days of December 2015 with the National Weather Service announcing that there may be snow for New Year’s Eve.

Greece has experienced a mild winter so far with clear blue skies and sunny spring weather for Christmas.

Now, clouds and rains will make their appearance on Wednesday throughout Greece while snow is expected in mountainous areas in central and northern parts of Greece.

Wind velocity will reach 7 on the Beaufort scale and temperatures are likely to drop as low as 2 degrees with frost in central and northern regions.

Sleet is expected on New Year’s Eve around many regions of Greece. Mountainous areas and lowlands will experience snow. Temperatures are expected to drop to -1 centigrade with frost forming in the subzero temperatures.

Expect sleet, rain and clouds around most of the country on New Year’s day with wind velocity at 5 on the Beaufort scale in the west and 7 in the east.
