Tsipras: "We need your support to elude memorandums"

Election campaigns are reaching a climax

Newsroom January 21 07:21

The election campaigns of all parties are reaching their peak while elections draw ever nearer.

Main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader Alexis Tsipras, during his speech in Athens, opened by stating that the Memorandums are over. He called for people to give SYRIZA their vote so that the party can become a self-reliant government. He stated that a strong party, a self-reliant government is a self-reliant Greece, with self-reliant Greek people. He explained, though, that they do not ask for a blank check like the ones that previous parties had since 1974 after the fall of the Junta. However, he reiterated that his party seeks self-reliance in order to push for reforms already announced in its program.

He claimed that the governing forces want to keep SYRIZA as hostages of their own agendas in order to have them relying on others. He claimed that the coalition parties and the Troika of international creditors (EC, ECB and IMF) want SYRIZA to form a non self-reliant government in order to “poison” their strategies, to keep SYRIZA from not being able to negotiate efficiently, but be stuck in the mire of constant negotiations.

He called on citizens to release SYRIZA and Greece itself from the reliance of “older” parties. He listed scandals, the Memorandums and said that his party is the hope forward.

He underlined that the Troika and “oligarchy” have devised a “Plan B”, to have established parties to give the country over to the Troika and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

He clarified that he will not be governing with the Troika or its coalition governments.  He expressed, yet again, his need for every Greek to vote for SYRIZA on Sunday, to regain the hope, the dreams that they have kept from the people all these years.

He revealed that his party is half a step before a majority, self-reliant government. SYRIZA is not here, he said, to claim back the long history of the Left. The party is here to save the country, and bring forth a social renaissance.

“From Monday onwards, all citizens will be equal. There will be no party state. It will be a state of justice, law, and meritocracy”.

He clarified that the goal of the opposition is not to bring Greece back to 2009, but to fight against that point in time and everything it stood for.

He then attacked PM Antonis Samaras’ party, by stating that the New Democracy is not an off-center right party, but a far-right party that reminds him of the Junta, fascism and the Greek civil war. He said that the people now need a note of unity and unification to overcome the crisis. He blamed the New Democracy for fear-mongering and stated that those who predict troubles ahead will be sorely disappointed.
