Government: We proceed according to a comprehensive plan for the economy

What was said in the meeting after the 'veto'of Troika for tax cuts

Newsroom July 11 12:43

Almost 3.5 hours lasted the meeting at the Maximou Mansion beetween the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, the Minister of finance Mr.Gikas Hardouvelis and the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Mr.Yannis Stournaras.

The main topic on the agenda was the meeting of the Minister of Finance with Troika and their denial of tax exemptions as well as maintaining emergency levy.

In particular, government partners are now examining what tactics to follow in order to cope with the creditors demands, as the tax cuts was one of their main election commitment and, based on the existing image is extremely difficult to implement.

The two government partners analyzed the current political situation following the case of the referendum for the “small PPC”, which eventually averted.

After the completion of the meeting, Evangelos Venizelos said that “we discussed the overall context of the economy and the general framework” and, when asked about the tax after yesterday’s instructions by Troika controllers he said: “We have a specific comprehensive plan and we move based to it”.
